Our Survey
Our priority population, which was the target demographic for our website, was college students at AU who experience menstruation. In order to understand the scope of the issue, we developed a brief, 8 question survey on Qualtrics.

We issued the survey on Wednesday, November 13th, and closed the survey three days later, on Friday, November 16th. The survey garnered a total of 37 responses.
According to our results, the majority of students (54.1%) are currently taking birth control. Students tried a variety of different birth control methods; including the hormonal pill, birth control implant, hormonal IUD, non-hormonal IUD, birth control shot, and vaginal ring. More individuals tried the hormonal pill than any other method, followed by the implant and hormonal IUD.
The majority of respondents who had tried birth control preferred the IUD, citing its efficacy and the fact that they didn’t have to think about taking it. For those who did not take birth control, the majority of those individuals expressed that they did not think they needed it, or used other contraceptive methods such as condoms.
These survey results helped us shape our website, and provided valuable information about students’ use and general opinion towards birth control.
